For warmth and softness underfoot, carpet is the best option. From berber to shag to traditional to commercial carpeting, Stradwicks carries several lines of carpeting and offers our customers unparalleled selection.
Carpet is made up of two main components; what you see which is the face pile and what you don't see which is the backing. The face pile receives the brunt of the wear and tear and is typically the main consideration in any carpet purchase.
Carpet face pile is available in either a cut or loop option. Cut-pile carpets are the traditional variety where the yarns stand straight up from the backing. These carpets are available in textured or saxony varieties. Saxony varieties tend to be the ones where, when its installed you can really see vacuum marks. In loop-pile carpets, the yarn forms a loop, with both ends in the backing of the carpet. Loop-pile carpets tend to wear well over the long-term because the loops help to distribute the impact of foot traffic.
In determining the best carpet for your needs you should consider the carpet's density, pile height, and fiber type. If you're budget-conscious, select the heavier product for high-traffic areas and the lower-weight carpet for less-used rooms.
